Good Thursday morning! Rain and storms are already ongoing across the area but more are expected through the afternoon and evening. Expect heavy rainfall, lightning, and some gusty winds with the stronger storms today. The severe threat is very low, but an isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out. Highs today will be in the lower 80s. This evening, showers and storms will gradually decrease in coverage, although an isolated shower or storm will be possible through the night. Lows will be in the upper 60s to around 70.

Tomorrow and Saturday, shower and storm chances become more isolated with most places remaining dry. Highs tomorrow will be back into the middle 80s with partly cloudy skies. On Saturday, expect partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the middle 80s one again.

Better rain chances return Father’s Day Sunday into Monday with more numerous to widespread showers and storms. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible again which could lead to some isolated flooding problems. If you have any outdoor plans, have a back up plan in place! Lower rain chances will return Tuesday and Wednesday.

Since today is Thursday, our new drought monitor has been released and while there wasn’t much change from last week, there are some spots that saw further drought removal. Some moderate drought remains across parts of Southern Tennessee and Northwestern Alabama, but there are a lot of spots drought free now! With more rainfall coming the next few days, additional drought removal will be possible by next Thursday’s update.

Have a great day!
