Anyone longing for fall weather does not have to wait any longer. There will be a nice crisp to the air this week as we reap the benefits of a cold front that swung through the Tennessee Valley. In fact, this afternoon will be the warmest of the next few, as the cooler air settles in tonight and tomorrow. Expect plenty of sunshine today with a few clouds by evening and into the overnight. Highs today will reach the mid to upper 60s, with lows dipping into the lower 40s tonight.
High pressure settles in by mid week, but not before allowing a few clouds to swing through Tuesday afternoon. Maybe, just maybe, a stray light shower will sneak through, but the chances of that happening are very low. Expect a partly cloudy sky Tuesday, with the slightest chance of a shower.
Tuesday night is when we could potentially see the first frost of the season here in the Tennessee Valley. If you have any vegetation outdoors, you should cover it or bring it inside if you can Tuesday night and Wednesday night. Temperatures are expected to get down into the mid to upper 30s both nights! I don’t think we will quite reach the freezing mark, but some low-lying valley areas may get close. Mid- October is right on par for when we should expect the fist frost in this region.
Aside from temperatures, we have a pretty low-impact week of weather. No rain chance aside from a stray light shower Tuesday. Otherwise expect a healthy mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will gradually warm back up this weekend, as the 70s make a comeback.
