Dry and pleasant next few days. Weekend rain and thunderstorm chances.

If you’re looking for something to complain about, you’ll have to look somewhere other than the weather. A gorgeous day is in store for the Tennessee Valley, featuring plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Winds are relatively calm. This week is going to be one you’ll want to spend outdoors! Tonight, lows will get back down into the lower 40s.

We will be lightly cooler Wednesday as winds shift from south to north, putting us in the upper 60s to lower 70s for afternoon highs. We’ll have a few clouds here and there but we will remain rain-free! Thursday will be dry and quiet as well, again just a few clouds in the area. We will see more cloud cover by Friday, as temperatures warm back into the mid 70s. I can’t rule out a rain shower sneaking into the area Friday, but most of us will certainly stay dry. Better rain chances arrive for the weekend.

Scattered rain showers, with maybe a few thundershowers mixed in, will move in by Saturday afternoon. That southerly flow will also keep us in the mid 70s, and even into the upper 70s by Sunday afternoon ahead of our next thunderstorm chance.

Sunday holds a good chance of thunderstorms moving through the Tennessee Valley. There is a chance this storm system could bring strong to severe storms. There isn’t an overly concerning signal at this point, however it is a system we have to watch closely. After all, it is the heart of tornado season for us in the region. This is your tap on the shoulder letting you know there is a chance for severe storms by Sunday evening. It’s a bit too early to dive into the magnitude of the threat or more specific timing, just know we are watching it and we will keep you updated! Now is simply the time to be paying attention to the forecast.

Enjoy the dry work-week because yes, rain chances are here for the weekend. We’ll keep you updated on Sunday’s storm threat, but for now, enjoy the sunshine and these incredible temperatures!
