Hot and dry most of the week. Where are Debby’s remnants heading?

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Buckle up for another hot week with highs in the 90s. Rain chances will be minimal, at best. I’ll talk about the remnants of Debby in a bit, but first let’s get through the next few days. Today will be dry and hot. Expect highs in the mid 90s. I cannot completely rule out the smallest little rain shower to pop up somewhere in the viewing area this afternoon. The chance for that is less than 10% but I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t mention it.

Tonight will be dry and mostly clear. Some patchy fog may develop in low-lying areas. Lows tonight will get down to the low to mid 70s. Tuesday features hot and dry weather for the Tennessee Valley. Highs will be in the upper 90s with heat index values in the lower triple digits. No rain chance, just a few clouds.

The middle and end of the week for us in the Tennessee Valley may be influenced in some way by the remnants of Debby. Debby made landfall early Monday morning in the big bend region of Florida as a Category 1 hurricane with 80mph winds. It has since been downgraded to a tropical storm, but the storm is far from done wreaking havoc. It will bring historic rainfall to the Georgia & Carolina coast as it looks to meander northeast the next few days.

Debby is forecast to stay away from the Tennessee Valley, however we may see cloud cover and some rain from the far outer bands. Any more of a westward trend with Debby’s track means higher rain chances for us. For now, rain chances Thursday – Saturday remain minimal locally. That can easily change and we will keep you updated. As it stands now, folks who live near Interstate 65 may see a few showers Thursday – Saturday.

Our best shot at any rain in the near future would be the outer bands from the remnants of Debby. Stay tuned for updates on that. Temperatures would cool off nicely if that trend increases, too!
