Cooler this week. Rain moves in late week. Taste of fall this weekend.

I hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend! Hopefully it was filled with good food, good company, and much-needed rain. Over the last 3 days, the Tennessee Valley saw anywhere from about 1-2 inches of rain. We have more rain on the way this week, plus a NICE cool down!

As for today, expect highs in the mid to upper 80s with a few isolated thundershowers in the area. Many folks will likely stay dry. Tonight, while most stay dry as we cool off into the upper 60s, I can’t completely rule out a lingering thundershower before midnight.

There may be a few isolated thundershowers in the area Wednesday, but chances remain minimal. There is a slightly higher chance you will see rain if you are west of the Highway 43 corridor that runs through the viewing area. Temps Wednesday will be in the mid 80s for the afternoon.

Thursday we will see cloud cover move in from the south, with a healthy breeze out of the south as well. Gusts may be up to 25 mph Thursday through Friday. As cloud cover increases throughout the day Thursday, rain & thundershower chances will also increase. Most of the DAY Thursday looks mainly dry aside from a few initial thundershowers, but more scattered rain & thundershowers move in overnight Thursday and continue into Friday. This will be remnant tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Models do not yet have the rain coverage nailed down, but it looks like at least the southern half of our viewing area has a really good shot at additional much-needed rain Thursday night into Friday. Let’s hope the cold front doesn’t push out the moisture too early leaving us with lower rain chances. that is a possibility but I for one am hoping for rain!

While our weather pattern will turn more active by the end of the week, a cold front will push everything out, including any heat and humidity. This weekend is looking dry, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s, and low humidity. WOOHOO! It’ll be a nice little taste of fall, especially with low temperatures getting down into the mid to possibly even lower 50s! This weekend will certainly feel quite refreshing, after a gloomy few days.
