Windy with a mid-week cold front bringing rain & thunder.

We have another sunny afternoon upon us, with just a few high-level fair weather clouds. With a gusty wind out of the south, temperatures will reach the low to mid 70s this afternoon as we stay nice and dry! Chances are coming to the forecast by Wednesday, so enjoy the rest of today!

A Wind Advisory will be in effect for southern middle TN from 10am – 10pm Wednesday for gusts up to 45 mph! That’s separate from any t’storm development.

Cloud cover will gradually increase Wednesday morning and afternoon. Temperatures will reach the upper 60s to lower 70s, depending on how quickly cloud cover thickens up ahead of the next cold front bringing showers and thunder. I’m not really seeing any severe weather parameters for Wednesday evening, I think the TN Valley will simply see scattered thundershowers. I think any gusty wind or small hail threat the SPC has us in a level 1/5 risk for will be a stray potential, at best.

A few models are showing some flurries Thursday on the back side of the cold front. I’m not sure we get cold enough for that to materialize. I’m also not sure the moisture gets too deep into our viewing area. The northeast portion of our viewing area *may* see a flurry or two. We’re watching this trend! Even if it does happen, no impacts or accumulation would be expected. Clouds clear out by Thursday night, but Friday will remain partly cloudy but dry. There is a slight chance for an overnight shower Friday night, but data is trending drier. Saturday is looking dry as well, that’s the day this weekend you’ll want to do anything outdoors!

Our next thunderstorm chance is Sunday, mainly during the evening. So, most of your Sunday will be nice, warn and breezy. I’m not really seeing anything catching my attention for a severe threat Sunday, but we are in peak severe weather season and are watching every system very closely. We’ll keep you updated!
