Multiple rain and storm chances this week. Gradual temperature warm-up by the weekend.

We’ve got quite the gloomy start to the week, but that means more chances for much-needed rain in the Tennessee Valley. Plus, the cloud cover helps us stay out of the 90s. Hit or miss storms will be with us this afternoon and early evening, and I do think coverage will be a little more scattered than what Futurecast is showing. Temps this afternoon will stay in the 80s, low to mid 80s at that with a mostly cloudy to overcast sky. This evening and overnight will be mostly dry with spotty showers, until after about 3AM when rain moves in. That will set the tone for the rest of Tuesday, with widespread showers and storms expected during the morning and early afternoon.

Our weather pattern remains unsettled for the foreseeable future. Plan for daily rain and storm chances through the weekend. Some days will be higher coverage than others, and with hit or miss storms, some days for your exact specific location may end up being dry. However, the chance remains for the next 7 days.

I think through Friday everybody will see at least an inch of rain, if not very close to it. Some areas may observe closer to two inches if you get a couple good downpours. The good news? We will be getting much needed rain and the cloud cover will keep our temperatures relatively comfortable for the end of July. Really, the only downside of this week’s weather is for you outdoor workers and anyone who has outdoor plans. You’ll notice on our 7 day forecast temperatures do gradually warm up with highs in the upper 80s, which corresponds with slightly lower rain chances and a little bit more sunshine. Brief instances of sunshine are enough to make temperatures rise a few degrees.
