Rain and storm chances this week. Dry for a few days in between.

After a rainy night, we’re catching a little break before more showers & storms develop later on this afternoon. Expect a mostly cloudy to overcast sky for much of today., We will see a few breaks in the clouds here and there, allowing temperatures to warm up into the mid to upper 70s. It’ll be quite muggy today as well. Afternoon storms will develop as a hit-or-miss variety mainly after 12pm, and should wind down by 9pm.

Tuesday will start out dry with temps in the upper 50s to lower 60s, as clouds still hang around the Tennessee Valley. Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for Tuesday as well, so make sure to keep the rain gear around. No severe thunderstorms are expected at this time. Tuesday night as storms start to die down, we begin our brief break from the unsettled weather. Wednesday is looking mostly dry aside from a few showers near I-65 and east. Thursday is also looking dry, ahead of our next thunderstorm chance which is Friday.

We are keeping an eye on Friday for the potential for strong storms here in the Tennessee Valley. While we must wait for more model data to fine-tune forecast details, models are latching onto the idea of a strong cold front bringing thunderstorms to the Tennessee Valley sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. I know, that’s a big window of time, but like I said, we are waiting for more model agreement to get any more specific. No need to do anything but pay attention to the forecast. We’ve got you covered and we will keep you updated!
