It’s a very gloomy start to Monday here in the Tennessee Valley. It’s definitely giving Monday, as the kids would say. Clouds will hoer overhead for the rest of the afternoon as we await rain and thunderstorms to move in from the west. Temps will hover in the upper 50s and lower 60s through the afternoon.
Rain & storms will move in from west to east late this afternoon and this evening. Some models have rain moving in as early as 4pm. Our in-house model is a tad later than the others. Just be ready with the rain gear any time after 4pm today. Rain & storms will continue into the evening and taper off overnight. No severe storms are expected in the Tennessee Valley viewing area today/tonight.
Tuesday morning is looking mostly dry as the overnight rain will have exited the area by the time most people here are waking up and starting their day. Expect a few passing showers throughout the day with spotty coverage. Rain chances increase overnight as another round of widespread rain and storms is likely by Wednesday morning.
Again, no severe weather is expected, but rainfall could be heavy and we do expect some lightning as this mess moves through the first half of the day.
A solid 1-2 inches of rain will fall across the region between today and Wednesday, with the multiple rounds of rain and storms that we are expecting.
Our drought conditions have alleviated significantly over the last few months, which is certainly great news. I don’t see all this rain causing any issues aside from puddling where rain water typically gathers when it rains.
After Wednesday, our unsettled weather pattern comes to an end as high pressure moves in to the Tennessee Valley, providing much more calm weather.
We will cool off thanks to Wednesday’s cold front that is bringing the rain and storm chance.
Highs will be in the 60s to start the week, but only in the 40s to end the week. We are seeing no signs of moisture moving through as temperatures dip below freezing during the overnights towards the end of the week. Expect a calm, quite, and cold weekend ahead. We will let you know if anything changes.
