Cold front approaching. Few showers and a cool down expected.

It’s not too bad of a Thursday across the Tennessee Valley with a partly cloudy sky and temps in the 70s. Expect the rest of today to be pleasant, with a few minor changes coming tomorrow. Lows tonight will get down into the lower 60s, with a mostly clear to partly cloudy sky.

Clouds will begin to move in from the south Friday morning. We may see a few sprinkles before or around lunch time, but the main rain chance isn’t until later in the evening. That being said, evening rain chances aren’t all that great either. We’re talking 0.1″ at best by Saturday morning. The cold front doesn’t have much moisture to work with, but it will bring in cooler temps. Any Friday night football goers may see a shower or two by the end of the game. Clouds should be out of the area by mid-morning Saturday.

The rest of Saturday should be mostly clear with a breeze out of the north. Temps will be in the upper 60s during the afternoon. It’ll get cool overnight, but clouds moving in will keep us in the lower 50s. Those clouds hang around much of the day Sunday, in turn keeping us much cooler for highs. We’ll be lucky if we get warmer than the upper 50s! There may be a few light showers Sunday morning, but just a slim chance. We will be in the clear come Monday morning, but lows Sunday night will be quite chilly, getting down into the upper 30s to lower 40s.

I wish I was more confident in a decent rain for the Tennessee Valley. As of today, virtually all of the Tennessee Valley viewing area is in a moderate drought. We could really use a nice soaking, but our next potential best chance for that isn’t until late next week. I don’t expect this map to change much in next week’s update, but if it does, it’s only getting drier. The main weather story is the change in temps this weekend. The beginning of next week is looking quite nice, but a tad on the chilly side! However, it’s about time for that.
