Today has been one day of what will prove to be many that are just wonderful – with highs mostly in the 70s today and clear, serene skies, there is certainly very little reason to complain as far as outdoor conditions are concerned. Day and night are both beautiful and clear – tonight we’ll get back down to the lower 50s/upper 40s, but otherwise we’ll have good stargazing conditions with minimal cloud cover and a waning gibbous moon. Maybe we’ll finally start seeing less of those mosquito conditions at last!
No different tomorrow in many ways as most of us will once again top out with highs in the 70s, though an 80 here and there does look likely especially in North Alabama. Clear skies once again stick thanks to those winds broadly out of the N/NE, which is flushing out moisture and is one of the many components of the broader pattern keeping us dry not only for this Weekend, but into the extended term as well.
High pressure is the story as we head through the next 7 days, and this is the MAIN culprit as to this dry and mild pattern (especially by October standards). One notable shift we’ll see in our forecast locally is that we will warm up slightly over the next few days – likely up to the lower 80s – into the workweek as the high pressure ridge continues to build and shunts any cloud cover away from us, allowing more solar radiation to heat us up. Of course this shunting of moisture also keeps us dry, so if you have any opportunities to get outside, this is the time you’ll want to do it (especially if your kids are getting out of school for fall break this week!).
