It’s been an incredibly hot and humid week so far, and by the looks of things, next week’s heat may be looking even more intense. I’ll explain our thoughts on next week’s temps below. Overall, today is much of the same as the last few days. Hot, humid, with a chance of a few spotty thunderstorms to develop in the area. Storm chances today are isolated at best, a lot of us will end the day dry. Highs this afternoon will reach the mid 90s with heat index values up to 108 degrees or warmer to the west. Tonight will be mostly clear as any thunderstorm activity will fizzle out after sunset. Lows tonight will get down into the mid 70s.

Friday starts off dry across the area, with *slightly* higher afternoon thunderstorm chances, but I still expect pretty spotty coverage. Otherwise you can expect a partly cloudy sky and highs in the low to mid 90s, warmer if areas stay mostly sunny and dry. Thunderstorm activity should once again die down later into the evening.
We have lowered rain chances for the weekend, but we still can’t rule out isolated afternoon pop-up thunderstorms. Keep that in mind if you have any outdoor plans. No need to change any plans, just keep an eye to the sky and listen for thunder. We always say it here because it is life-saving advice: when thunder roars, head indoors.

Like I mentioned above, next week’s heat may end up being even more intense than what we are experiencing this week. As we have been relatively dry this week, temperatures will not have to work as hard to get HOT due to the lack of evaporation taking place. So if you thought this week was miserable, unfortunately we are only just getting started. Highs next week could easily reach the upper 90s- and that’s without factoring in the humidity!
