Shower and Storms Continue Today…Drier and Cooler Weather Coming Tomorrow and Over the Weekend…

Good Thursday morning! The daily shower and storm theme continues today, but this will be the last day of numerous to widespread showers and storms. While some of the storms could be on the strong side today, the overall severe risk is extremely low. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s due to the amount of clouds we will have around, but there will be some peaks of sun every now and then. This evening, showers and storms will gradually decrease in coverage with just some passing clouds expected overnight. Lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Going into tomorrow, mostly dry conditions are expected with partly cloudy skies but there could be an isolated shower possible mainly east of I-65. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. For those high school games, skies should be partly to mostly clear with temperatures down in the 60s and 70s during gametime.

For the weekend and into next week, our mostly dry weather continues as our temperatures will gradually get back into the middle 80s for highs. While an isolated shower is possible next week, rain chances are only at 10% right now. Depending on how some tropical activity evolves to our east, we might have some slight increasing rain chances if that piece of energy gets pushed westward.

Finally, with today being Thursday, we have our new Drought Monitor update. While some drought conditions continue for some of us, there was a removal of some of the moderate drought conditions. One slight catch is while we have had a lot of rainfall across the area, some of it occurred after the cutoff of rainfall data for the weekly update. That happens on Tuesday mornings, so the rain we had on Tuesday and Wednesday do not get taken into account. We will have to wait for next week’s update to see what dent that rainfall produced.

Have a great Thursday!
