Cold Front Takes Hold By Tomorrow!

If you’ve been enjoying the last couple days as far as the temperatures go, you may bemoan the title – but it’s true. While it’s felt more like Spring than late December (with 70s today being the story), it won’t be long at all before father Winter comes back in a big way. These spring-like temperatures are actually a result of southerly winds ahead of the front, bringing in that warmth and notably the moisture that’ll help fuel those showers we’ll see through tonight. Let’s take a look at that, and what lies after.

First things first, it’ll be after sunset when those showers/sporadic downpours move through – these along the front. The actual line itself looks to be on the downward trend due to lacking instability in the area, so we aren’t expecting any particularly major issues with it, but breezy conditions will continue as that rain pushes through from ~9pm-3am tonight. As it sweeps through, it dries us out and, as you’ll note in a moment, cools us down, not only in pure temperatures but due to substantial wind chills as well (as the wind stays sharp, but shifts out of the North).

Indeed that front clears us totally out and Monday looks beautiful – but check those highs out! Certainly a far cry from the 60s and 70s we’ve been seeing, and with such a dramatic change perhaps the type of pattern that gives some of us headaches. Wind chills will be of course even lower still (think around the 20s), so bundle up… winter is rearing it’s head once again.

Good news is the particularly cold trend is somewhat brief, before we return to about where we should be for this time of year by around Wednesday. Tomorrow and Tuesday are the coolest days of the week and do keep in mind each of the next several nights will be well below freezing, so remember – pets, plants, pipes, bring them inside/keep them warm, you know the drill as we wrap our 2025 up. Better still is that most all of the week looks rather clear… so New Years plans should not have to be shifted around too very much.

As of current indications, it’s only towards Friday night/1st half of Saturday that rain chances return, so for those of you whose kids are still out on winter break, the weather for your week coming up should cooperate as far as precipitation goes (or in this case, the lack thereof). Just bundle up… After all, it is December!
