Good Friday morning! While the entirety of the day today will be dry, our winter storm will be moving in overnight tonight. Please finish up any preparations you need while you can today!
During the overnight hours, some snow, sleet, and freezing rain will begin to move in from the west. Most of this will likely be on the lighter side so no major impacts are expected right away. However, as the morning progresses tomorrow, the precipitation will increase in intensity and lead to ice accumulating across the area. The better odds at seeing some high impact accumulations (1/4 inch or more) will be across Northwestern Alabama and up into Southern Tennessee. This is where roads could become very hazardous if not impassable, some power outages to be possible, and the threat of some tree branches coming down causing damage. There could be some areas in Southern Tennessee (Savannah, Waynesboro, Hohenwald areas) that might get over 1/2 inch of ice, which would cause major issues.

The precipitation will continue into Sunday but the transition zone between freezing rain and just a cold rain will be west of I-65. Icing concerns would ease for areas just seeing a cold rain while back on the freezing side, the icing continues.
Everything should be out of our area by the time Sunday evening rolls around.

There will be a threat for refreezing of any water on the roads Sunday night, Monday night, and possibly Tuesday night. This would be area wide and would cause black ice to be an issue.
We will get above freezing across the area on Wednesday, but some might reach above freezing on Tuesday. This will help alleviate any ice problems. Most areas should be good to go by the time Wednesday and Thursday roll around.
