Yes, you’re probably already gawking over the word “flurries” from the headline as you clicked into this blog post. Don’t also miss the “no impacts” part of the headline! Late this afternoon moisture from a clipper system will swing down into the Tennessee Valley, bringing with it a small light shower/snow flurry chance. Temperatures will be falling as the moisture moves in, so we may initially see a few raindrops. There is minimal moisture to work with here. Not everyone will see snowflakes, but yes, we ARE saying there is a chance (: Again, no impacts or accumulation is expected within our viewing area. Temperatures will finish out in the upper teens to lower 20s.
Tuesday is looking cold but sunny, as high pressure briefly settles into the TN Valley. Highs will only reach the upper 30s to lower 40s, with lows Tuesday night in the mid to lower 20s under a mostly clear sky. Wednesday will be dry for most of the day. We will have winds out of the south bringing us “warmer” air (highs in the lower 50s) and we will see cloud cover increase ahead of our next rain chance. Better chances for some rain showers for NW Alabama and NE Mississippi, as many models keep the moisture to the southern half of our viewing area. We can’t rule out showers for everyone Wednesday night, though.
That rain should be gone by Thursday and we will have another brief dry period before some uncertain weekend rain chances. Models starting to get the hang of a few potential systems, but for now, we will leave it as a shower chance both Saturday and Sunday. Looking ahead to next week, it’s looking warmer than this week!
