Hot and humid this week with isolated rain and storm chances.

If you’re tired of rain shower after rain shower after thunderstorm, this week is going to be more geared toward you. However, if you’re not a fan of the heat…sorry! Expect a hot and humid week with minimal rain chances each day. For the rest of today, I can’t rule out a few pop-up storms across the area, but the rest of today will be mostly dry with a mostly cloudy sky turning partly cloudy. This evening will be dry as temperatures cool off from the lower 90s from the afternoon.

Overnight tonight will be mainly dry with a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Many weather models show a thunderstorm complex passing us off to the east. We’re throwing in an isolated rain chance overnight and for Tuesday to err on the side of caution. With thunderstorm complexes like these, models can be off by several miles so we want to cover our bases. However, models are showing the Tennessee Valley to be mostly dry Tuesday. That being said, we’ve got about a 20-30% rain and storm chance on our forecast. Otherwise, expect a partly cloudy sky with temperatures in the mid 90s, and heat index values between 103-108°.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for Tuesday for much of the area with the expected heat index values within that range. Any storms that develop or move through will cool you off briefly. We expect heat index values in that range to last at least through mid-week.

Expect daily isolated thunderstorm chances but no washouts like we saw last week. This is why we are going to be significantly warmer. More sunshine and the humidity isn’t going anywhere. The good news is, area wide, we picked up anywhere from 2-5 inches of rain last week! I know I speak for everyone when I say “we really needed that.”

Highs will stay in the mid 90s this week, and it’ll feel about 10 degrees hotter outside when you factor in the humidity. Again, plan for daily storm chances, albeit minimal chances.
