Mostly sunny and warm for now. Rain chances creep back before more widespread rain and storms by the weekend.

Another mostly sunny day across the Tennessee Valley, except for the continued hazy conditions from the Canadian wildfire smoke. We continue to take a break from rain chances. Daytime highs today will once again be in the mid to upper 80s, although a couple of locations in north Alabama may briefly make a run for 90 degrees. We continue to be mostly clear overnight, but southerly winds starting to provide an increase in humidity means that overnight lows will be a bit on the warm side, into the upper 60s to lower 70s. We’ll see a few more clouds on Wednesday, but still plenty of sunshine. We can’t rule out an isolated afternoon thundershower or two across the area, although most folks will still stay dry. Daytime highs will again be in the mid to upper 80s.

Temperatures will be seasonably warm as we head through the next several days, mid to upper 80s, but rain chances gradually increase the rest of the week. A stray thundershower Wednesday, and then widely scattered activity for Thursday and Friday. However, rain chances increase as a frontal system gradually sags into the area over the weekend. This will lead to rounds of off and on widespread showers and storms for both Saturday and Sunday. We don’t see any obvious signs of an organized severe storm risk, but any storm in the early summer can have small hail and gusty winds.

Whether you’re staying here locally or you’re headed down to the beach, it may not be the best weekend for outdoor activities. Daily showers and storms will be possible, although they will be more widespread locally than along the coast. Highs here will be generally in the mid 80s, while it will be closer to the upper 80s on the Gulf Coast.
