I hope you enjoyed the 4th of July weekend! It was hot, it was humid, but hopefully you had some fun and saw some spectacular fireworks. It’s been a gloomy start to Monday so far, with a mostly cloudy sky and a few rain showers. Expect mostly cloudy conditions to continue. Those of you who see sunshine this afternoon will make it up into the 90s. If your location remains cloudy, expect highs to remain in the 80s today. Expect a few scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Humidity will be high both today and tomorrow. Heat index values for some today may approach triple digits. Tomorrow… same story.
Tuesday will start off mainly dry and mostly cloudy. By afternoon, Beryl’s remnants will swirl through the Tennessee Valley, bringing us a thunderstorm chance. Now, I will say, the better severe storm parameters remain to our north. However, we always have to be on our toes with a remnant tropical system approaching from the west. The Storm Prediction Center has the level 1 out of 5 risk just north of our viewing area, clipping mere fractions of Maury, Lewis and Hardin counties. The threats with these storms would be damaging wind gusts and even a tornado or two. Again, this threat remains to our north, but we are staying on guard in case anything shift by just a few miles!
Once we get past Tuesday evening, it’s smooth sailing for the rest of the week. Aside from a few morning lingering thundershowers Wednesday, we will begin to dry out and clear out. We do need rain here in the region, so hopefully this will put at least a small dent in the deficit. Humidity levels will decrease some Wednesday and Thursday, but it will be short lived as the heat and humidity will return by the end of the week and stay with us through the weekend.
