Clouds locked in firmly across the area on this Tuesday, keeping us in the 60s today despite a gusty southerly wind. Those clouds and southerly wind will be what keeps us on the warm side for February the next few overnights. We only drop down to the mid 50s tonight for overnight lows. With clouds hanging tough tomorrow as well, it’s looking less likely we’ll slide up into the 70s. We’ve pulled highs for Wednesday back to the mid to upper 60s. However, if you get a few decent breaks of sunshine, especially in north Alabama, hitting 70 won’t be impossible! Clouds and a gusty southwest wind stick around Wednesday night, and we may see a few spotty showers as moisture increases. Overnight lows will once again be in the mid to upper 50s.

Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, as we look to have a stronger southwesterly wind and some mid-level dry air allowing for a few sun breaks. We look to climb into the mid 70s for most of the area, and a few spots in north Alabama and northeast Mississippi might end up in the upper 70s for highs. We can’t rule out a couple of spotty showers during the daytime, but better rain chances hold off until the overnight Thursday night as a cool front slides in. Scattered showers and storms look to be possible before shifting south of us with the front Friday morning. No severe storms are expected in our local area of southern middle Tennessee, north Alabama, and northeast Mississippi. That front waffles back north as a warm front Friday night with another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. We don’t see any signs of those storms being severe at this time either. A few showers may linger into parts of Saturday, and then we turn colder again. Highs on Sunday are back into the 50s, and then we’re in the mid to upper 40s for highs with overnight lows back in the 20s by the beginning of next week. Winter isn’t quite done just yet!
