Warm weather is upon us! Rain and thunderstorms arrive by the weekend.

Clouds hung around for a large part of the day, but they have broken up enough this afternoon to allow most of the area to warm nicely. We’ve been into the low to even middle 70s most everywhere along and west of I-65. Areas east of I-65 have been dealing with a wedge of cooler air from the east though. This will be much less of a factor for the rest of the week.

Partly cloudy skies, the southerly wind, and mild temperatures stick around overnight. We’ll get down to the mid to upper 50s for most of the area, except far western zones like Hardin and Tishomingo Counties stay near 60. For Wednesday, we’ll have breezy conditions and partly sunny skies continuing. We may even see a spotty shower or two. It will be warm areawide, with daytime highs for everyone in the mid to upper 70s. A few folks in north Alabama and northeast Mississippi might get near 80 degrees! We stay partly to mostly cloudy and mild on Wednesday, with overnight lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

We continue to run a stray shower chance for Thursday and Friday, but better chances of showers and storms move into the area Saturday into Saturday night as a frontal system approaches the area and washes out. We don’t have a lot of dynamics and low-level shear; so, we aren’t expecting a big severe weather risk. However, we may have enough instability for a few strong storms with gusty winds, depending on the timing of the storms. We’ll be watching carefully and updating as necessary. We will be warm to end the week, with highs climbing into the lower 80s areawide for Thursday and Friday, and staying between the mid 70s to near 80 all the way into early next week!
