It’s the first full week of 2026 and we are off to a warm start! Highs the next several days will be in the 60s and 70s. Sounds like spring, right? Unfortunately with these spring-like conditions comes a stout cold front bringing the chance for some strong storms by Friday. More on that later, but for now let’s get to the pleasant part of the forecast. Today cloud cover will gradually increase but we stay dry, with highs in the low to mid 60s. We’ll have a breeze out of the south all week, with gusts up to 20mph possible. Tonight expect a mostly cloudy sky, dry conditions, and temperatures in the upper 40s. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a stray shower possible, but highs will be in the mid 60s across the area. Clouds stick around Tuesday night as well.

Wednesday is looking partly cloudy, dry and warm! That southerly wind will warm us up into the upper 60s to lower 70s by Wednesday afternoon, as humidity starts to come creeping up. Not feeling uncomfy yet by Wednesday, but that will be the trend leading up to Friday. Thursday, we can’t rule out a few spotty thundershowers, however chances remain low and the main event is yet to come.

Friday, expect breezy conditions in the morning with times of sunshine and cloud cover. Temperatures will reach the lower 70s again ahead of the thunderstorms we are expecting. The Storm Prediction Center has part of the Tennessee Valley highlighted on their Day 5 outlook. We still have to get in range of the higher resolution models to fine tune details on what exactly we can expect. Synoptically speaking, there is certainly a signal for a strong to severe storm threat associated with Friday’s front. Stay tuned to us here at Tennessee Valley Weather as we learn more about the storm potential. Now is not the time to panic, but time to start checking back regularly for updates.

After the storms clear the area overnight Friday, Temperatures will come crashing down. We will likely reach Saturday’s high temperature at midnight, with temperatures cooling throughout the rest of the day. The weekend will be dry, but colder. Sunday’s highs are just in the 40s.
