After a nice, dry stretch of relatively calm weather, this week is going to look a little different than the last several days. We’re increasing rain and storm chances gradually throughout the week. Today holds the chance for scattered showers and storms across the region. It’s a typical summertime pattern in which we can’t say when or where exactly, other than in the area during the afternoon to early evening. Some folks will stay dry today- higher rain chances ease in as the week progresses. Storm chances fade out as we lose sunshine this evening. Aside from any t’storms, we will be hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90s!

Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are on the table Tuesday. Like Monday (and for the rest of the week for that matter) we are not expecting any organized severe weather threat. That doesn’t mean a thunderstorm may not have gusty winds, heavy rain or frequent lightning. Storm chances continue Wednesday and Thursday, Thursday holding the highest chance for scattered to widespread thunderstorms. Thunderstorm activity will mainly be during the afternoon/early evening every day, but we do leave room for a few lingering thundershowers to fizzle out by about 10pm-midnight at the latest.

Two things will be certain every day this week- heat and humidity. But are we surprised? It’s July! Highs this week start out in the low to mid 90s and you’ll notice high temps slightly decrease as rain chances gradually increase. I don’t know about you, but this appears to be a stereotypical July 7 day forecast if I’ve ever seen one.
