I’ll start by saying that today sure is proof that the title of this post is no joke – indeed, today has been just wonderful across the Tennessee Valley, with our highs, as expected, approaching that near-70 range widespread across the area. That is to make no mention of just how clear and crisp the skies have been today (away from those sporadic controlled burns, of course), with pretty much entirely blue skies all across the area, a trend that will remain mostly uninterrupted as we head into the overnight.
Around and after midnight we’ll have some clouds filter in, but we’ll stay nice out for you stargazers out there, with temperatures cooling back down into the low-mid 40s vicinity – no freezing temperatures in sight tonight, and it’s unlikely we’ll see any for the foreseeable future. (As an addendum, I would caution against saying we’ve seen our last freeze for certain, but signs are promising that Spring will stick around in a fairly robust way into the next couple of weeks).
To conclude our Weekend we’re in a bit of a “mixed bag” scenario – that is to say, Sunday sees a bit of calm and a bit of unsettled to boot. For much of the day (morning thru mid-afternoon), we stay fairly clear and warm, with highs continuing upwards into the 70s, with some of us perhaps getting into that mid-70s range by the afternoon. The winds will be whipping pretty stoutly out of the south (15-20+mph), and this is a sign of the times especially for later in the evening. This later evening-overnight timeframe (let’s call it around sunset and beyond) is the timeframe we’ve been keeping an eye on for stronger storms across the area. We do have a portion of our area in a level 2 of 5 severe risk, and the rest of us in a level 1 of 5 risk, so there is that chance at some severe thunderstorm activity popping up locally across the area, primarily in the vein of damaging winds, but perhaps some small hail. Tornado threat is quite low – now, it is not zero, but it is not one of our PRIMARY concerns as far as the big picture goes. We aren’t expecting some “outbreak” type situation with this. Of course, big threat, small threat, or anything in-between, we’ll be keeping you updated as the storms move through, just in case, so keep in touch with us through the evening and we’ll get through it no problem.
Beyond this system, we’re rocking for the workweek! The temperatures really reinforce that Spring-like pattern across the TN Valley, with the LOWEST highs in the week being in the upper 60s, with many of us seeing consistent 70s elsewhere in the week with minimal rain chances – just wonderful weather to take advantage of in terms of those outdoor conditions. I also want to mention Tuesday which we highlighted as having possibly a shower or two, but I am of the mind that we’re seeing that chance taper off a bit with dry air locally, leading to another solid day across the area. All and all – don’t adjust any plans, it looks good like the rest of the week does!
Matter of fact, when you wrap that all up in a 7 day, you can notice “bookends” on the forecast – Mother Nature has a way of keeping those rain chances on Weekends as of late, and there is an indication of some more chances towards next weekend, but we’ll have to get closer to that to get any more specific as to what that looks like. Of course we also have tomorrow evening to get through, which again does have that chance of some strong to perhaps severe weather locally – we’re not expecting an outbreak type situation, but do stay tuned with us so you have the latest on how that looks to evolve. After that… take full advantage of that weather in the workweek, because it’s cooperating!
