We’ve been a little cloudy so far today across the Tennessee Valley. Temperatures started off in the mid to upper teens this morning, and we will reach the mid 20s by afternoon. As expected, a few very light snow flurries managed to sneak their way in south of the Tennessee River in north Alabama. The bigger story going into tonight is certainly the cold air temperatures and the dangerous wind chill values. Air temperatures are expected to fall into the single digits, with wind chill values into the negative single digits for some overnight and early tomorrow morning. Please, bundle up and continue to protect your pipes.

We’ve shared this graphic already this cold spell, but you can never be reminded enough on how to handle cold weather in the Tennessee Valley.

As clouds hang around for a little while longer today, they will eventually clear out by evening. This will allow temperatures to get as cold as we are forecasting. A clear sky means there is nothing keeping that frigid air from settling in. Again, expect air temps tonight in the single digits, and wind chill values into the negative single digits.

The Tennessee Valley will reach at least freezing temperatures tomorrow (that magic 32°) if not a few degrees warmer. Finally! We are dry Wednesday and Thursday. Friday holds a slight chance for a few passing, non-impactful snow flurries. Non-impactful means no impacts are expected. Wonderful. We are on the same page. We look dry Saturday as clouds increase ahead of our next rain chance. Showers may start as early as Saturday night and Sunday is looking a bit soggy. We are watching temperatures closely but it’s looking like a rain event. We will let you know if anything changes.

Don’t worry, warmer weather is just a few days away. Upper 30s to lower 0s to end the week, with temperatures well into the 40s for the weekend. Sunday is trending cooler, but that’s due to the rainy system we are expecting.
