Yes, it’s cold. And for the millionth time, no, just because I’m from up north does NOT mean I enjoy this! Haha. All jokes aside, continue to protect your pipes as well as yourself as you venture out the next few days. Limit your time outdoors (I probably don’t even have to tell you that) and keep a line of water dripping throughout your home. Our weather pattern is relatively calm for much of the week, so at least this bitter cold is all we really have to worry about.
Lows tonight will get down into the teens, with wind chill values in the single digits. Wind chill value is simply the quantification of “OOF, that breeze sends a chill down your spine!” We are able to put a value to it, as we factor in the wind speed and direction along with the actual air temperature. That’s why you’re seeing the two different numbers in weather forecasts. Most people care about what it’s ACTUALLY going to feel like, so you’d want to reference wind chill values for that.

Tuesday, our friends in North Alabama may see cloud cover throughout the day, which is just an extension of a gulf system bringing an historic snow to the gulf coast! Have no fear, we don’t expect any wintry precip here. Just an increase in cloud cover and maybe, the smallest chance of a very light, non-impactful-in-any-way flurry south of the Tennessee River.

The rest of the work-week looks pretty uneventful. In fact, we will be warming back up! However, that comes ahead of our next rain chance over the weekend. That system does not look to case any problems other than putting a damper on outdoor plans. That system moves in Saturday night and Sunday is looking rather gloomy.

So yes, it’s disgustingly cold for the next few days, but a warm up is in our near future. Temperatures will get back above freezing by Wednesday afternoon. By the weekend, we will be pushing 50 degrees for our high temperatures. Again, Tuesday’s miniscule flurry chance in North Alabama is extremely minimal, but we don’t want you to be caught off guard if a flurry sneaks up into the area.
